Cambodia on July 8 officially kicked off its 300-day countdown to host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and ASEAN Para Games for the first time, in a historic milestone.

The Kingdom is set to host the 32nd SEA Games from May 5-17 next year and the 12th ASEAN Para Games from June 3-9, organised under the motto of “Sport: Live In Peace”.

The official website for the Games – cambodia2023.com – noted that the theme was inspired by everyday Cambodians who currently enjoy peace and stability in the Kingdom.

“Sport is the catalyst for economic and social transformation in the Kingdom.

“The Kingdom’s ambitions of becoming a middle-income nation by 2030 must be met with a strong desire for lasting peace, which will ultimately lead to prosperity and wealth in the community, along with health and happiness,” it said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith has called on the media to promote the countdown and share videos and other content related to the Games.
