Osaka Hydrogen Water (Cambodia) Co Ltd has forayed into the Kingdom to tap into a water purifier market that remains largely untapped, but one that is tipped to grow rapidly in the coming years as demand for safe drinking water soars.

Increasing appreciation of the importance of clean water, growing health awareness, rapid urbanisation and the entry of affordable water purification technologies are several key factors influencing the growth of the water purifier market in Cambodia.

In addition, poor water quality, particularly in rural areas, pollution and limited access to clean and safe fresh water are additional pull factors that will propel the demand for water filters.

This is providing ample opportunities for water filter suppliers.

“[Cambodia] is a potential market. Although it is a small market, it is a growing. As people better organise their lifestyles, they are becoming more conscious about water quality.

“We see many opportunities for business development in Cambodia – a large and fast-growing society, one with increasingly wealthy and educated people who are aware of their health,” Perrie Choo, Osaka’s business development manager told The Post.

Osaka – which started its business in January 2019 to sell high-quality indoor and outdoor products – is the sole distributor of the Japan’s Kiyoi brand of water filters and filtering systems in Cambodia.

It offers a range of water filters for the local market.

The stylish, indoor active hydrogen alkaline Kiyoi water filter that comes with five platinum plates in the filtering system can process 600 litres of water per hour.

The Premium Active Hydrogen Alkaline water filter – with the advanced feature of 11 platinum plates in the filtering system – can process 1,000 litres of water per hour and handle the filtering of heavily contaminated water.

The striking, silver-coloured 6-Stage Filter, equipped with an ultra filtration super membrane, can process 600 litres of water per hour.

The outdoor Master Filter, meanwhile, has an ultra filtration membrane that can filter 3,000 litres of water per hour, enough for washing and bathing with.

“We provide various technologically advanced Japanese water filters, ionisers and filtering systems for any type of property. All the filters are safe and easy to be used by everyone.

“We also offer the professional services of water quality testing and pipe cleaning, while we help educate our customers about having a healthy lifestyle and good dietary habits,” said Choo.

The indoor filter – which produces rich hydrogen alkaline water that Osaka says has crucial health benefits – has been a fast-selling product, he added.

By offering affordable and easy to maintain water purifiers with reliable after-sales services, the company plans to gain a strong foothold in the domestic water purifier market.

As part of Osaka’s corporate social responsibility, its trained team actively promotes consumer education on quality water for healthy living and water quality standards.

“We educate our customers about the role of water in the natural environment, as well as in our bodies. We do this at our events, and on our website and our social media profiles.

“We train our employees to be professional water specialists, and our aim is to provide high-quality equipment to satisfy Cambodian water needs,” said Choo.
