Thailand’s Ambassador to Cambodia presented the donation to Hun Sen. facebook
The Royal Embassy of Thailand contributed two million baht ($62,765) to Cambodia’s fight against Covid-19 on Wednesday, as the countries celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations.
The donation was presented by Thailand’s Ambassador to Cambodia Panyarak Poolthup to Prime Minister Hun Sen at a meeting at the Peace Palace.
In a Facebook post, Hun Sen said Panyarak ordered Thai businesses in Cambodia to not increase product prices. Thai businesses in Cambodia were also urged to contribute materials to the Kingdom, such as surgical masks.
The Facebook page also said Hun Sen had urged businesses to adhere to measures implemented by the Ministry of Health.

Panyarak applauded Hun Sen’s measures to contain Covid-19 and said they were highly effective.
In response, Hun Sen thanked Panyarak for contributing to the fight against the disease.
He said the contribution reflected solidarity between Cambodia and Thailand as well as between the peoples of the two nations. He also placed a high value on Thailand’s measures against the virus.
Hun Sen said more than 90,000 Cambodians had returned from Thailand and not one tested positive.
The Royal Thai Embassy said: “As a friend, Thailand reiterates that we must rely on each other, cooperate throughout this crisis and strengthen our bilateral relations across the board.
“We hope that this humble yet sincere support will contribute to the enhancement of Cambodia’s public health capacity and the mitigation of Covid-19 impacts endured by the Cambodian people.”
The embassy said the contribution was an addition to the 10,000 locally produced RT-PCR test kits that the Prime Minister of Thailand offered to each ASEAN member country during the Special ASEAN Summit on Covid-19 on April 14.
The embassy said Thailand recently donated over 3,000kg of home-grown rice to the King of Cambodia, 250kg to the Mudhita Foundation and 250kg to Samdech Bour Kry, the Supreme Patriarch of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya of Cambodia, to distribute to those in need.
The Royal Academy of Cambodia’s International Relations Institute director, Kin Phea, said Thailand and Cambodia maintained a healthy relationship.
“Lately, the relationship between Thailand, under the leadership of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, and Cambodia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, has been good in all aspects. The contribution only improves the relationship,” Phea said.
