The Kampong Thom provincial administration urged people living along the Stung Sen River in the province to be highly vigilant to avoid eventual dangers as the water level of the river has reached a high level.

In a notice on August 19, the administration said that the water level has already reached 13.58 metres, surpassing warning levels by 0.08 meters.

Citing the announcement about the weather issued by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorolgy, the administration said the rains could continue for some time which would make the water level also keep increasing.

“Therefore, all people living along Stung Sen River in Sandan, Prasat Sambor, Kampong Svay and Stung Sen have to be on high alert to mitigate the danger which can occur,” the notice said.

It also called on local authorities at all levels to be ready for intervention and evacuation of people to safe ground.
