Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the US media to publish the truth about Cambodia as he said the Kingdom had been treated unjustly by the publication and broadcasting of false and untrue information.

Hun Sen met with Michael Petruzzello, CEO of PR Firm-Qorvis Communication, on May 12 ahead of the ASEAN-US summit in Washington DC.

The prime minister told Michael Petruzzello that it was important that the media report the truth about Cambodia. Cambodia is very different from what the ‘anti-Cambodia’ media had reported, he said.

Hun Sen’s social media post said: “Hun Sen urges the US media to come to visit and report the truth about Cambodia.”

“Cambodia doesn’t want the media to report anything beyond the truth. We want them to report only the true facts about Cambodia. The Kingdom has suffered injustices born from false news which does not reflect the reality of the country,” his post continued, adding that the media should base their information on credible sources.

Petruzzello said Cambodia should increase their training of spokespeople and representatives in all sectors to promote their ability to present the facts about Cambodia to the outside world.

Hun Sen acknowledged the importance of upskilling its representatives, and added that Cambodia had begun carrying out this training.
