Four Vietnamese nationals were arrested for possession of 100kg of drugs and substances on Tuesday. police
The National Police anti-drug department and sub-national level police in the capital joined forces on Tuesday night in a crackdown that saw the arrest of four Vietnamese nationals and the seizure of nearly 100kg of drugs and substances used in drug production.
National Police anti-drug department director Loek Vannak told The Post on Wednesday that law enforcement operations were carried out in two different locations.
The first was in Boeung Keng Kang II commune in Boeung Keng Kang district and the second in Prek Aeng commune in Chbar Ampov district.
“Our crackdown started on Tuesday night. We first arrested four Vietnamese suspects with 32kg of methamphetamine and 54kg of chemical substances used in drug production, a drug-drying machine, and a machine for producing tablets,” Vannak said.

According to him, the joint forces also found 10 big packages of methamphetamine weighing 10kg and three motorbike number plates.
He named the four held suspects as Nguyen Yuan Anh, 24; Phuong Hoang Veit, 22; Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngoc, 21; and Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan, 30. They were all arrested in Boeung Keng Kang II.
With the tip-off from the suspects, the anti-drug police worked with Chbar Ampov district police and the Phnom Penh Municipal Court prosecutor to raid a drug production facility the same day in Boh Angkanh village of Prek Aeng commune.
The authorities confiscated 22kg of methamphetamine and 54kg of drug production substances and production equipment, Vannak told The Post.
“The suspects were detained and the drugs stored temporarily at the anti-drug department of the National Police. We will question them further before sending the case to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for prosecution,” Vannak said.
In October, the anti-drug department and Kampong Thom provincial police busted a drug trafficking ring and confiscated nearly 100kg of drugs.
Anti-drug department deputy chief In Song said the four suspects arrested on Tuesday were not involved in the Kampong Thom case.
“Before we could arrest this group, our agents followed their activities for months. They are part of a network of transnational drug traffickers between Cambodia and Vietnam,” he said.
He named the ring leader as Vo Ngoc Tu, a Vietnamese national, who is currently in hiding. He said after the crackdown, police had shut down the two drug production venues for further investigation.
