The National Assembly on Tuesday approved a draft law on land boundaries between Cambodia and Vietnam.
The draft law on the approval of the land boundary protocols and demarcation of land border posts between the countries was submitted by the Council of Ministers for approval on October 9.
Government spokesman Phay Siphan said on Tuesday the two countries have already agreed on 84 per cent of the border posts.
“This agreement can be used only if the legislature ratifies it,” he said.

Siphan said the National Assembly has to check the details on the final stage before the ratification of this draft law. When the National Assembly ratifies this draft law, it will become the law that is applied to use officially.
“After ratification from the National Assembly, both pillars and borderlines will be followed under the law. When we discuss this with international courts, we use this law as a basis,” he said.
