A man was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on January 23 with over 25kg of methamphetamine, ketamine and ecstasy, while another man with 17kg of dried marijuana was referred to the Battambang Provincial Court in a separate case on the same day.

In Phnom Penh, the suspect, Ath Mati, 37, was arrested on January 18 at a rental unit in Meanchey district’s Boeung Tompun commune.

According to anti-drug department director In Song, police confiscated more than 25kg of drugs, including more than 20kg of methamphetamine, more than 2kg of MDMA and more than 1kg of ketamine. Police also seized two rifles with 96 bullets.

Municipal court spokesman Phlong Sophal could not be reached for comment on the case.

Separately in Battambang, police arrested Rann Roem, 36, on January 21 with more than 17kg of dried and fresh marijuana plants.

Samlot district police chief Men Rim said the suspect, a resident of the district, was arrested while transporting the dried marijuana on with his motorbike. Roem told police that he had planted the marijuana on a small hill in the district’s Samlot commune.
