Officials from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and the Koh Kong Provincial Administration organised a lottery on October 14-15 to divide plots of land for 831 families who have been locked in a long-standing dispute with the Union Development Group.

The firm's development project is located in Kiri Sakor and Botum Sakor districts.

The lucky draw was led by ministry secretary of state Tep Thorn – who also serves as the head of the General Secretariat of the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution – in the presence of deputy provincial governor Sok Sothy.

The provincial hall said the government, in response to the 831 families' requests for additional compensation as a compromise, provided them with 1ha of farmland each.

Of the 381 families, 360 are from Phnhi Meas and Koh Sdech communes of Kiri Sakor district, while the others are from Botum Sakor district's Ta Noun commune.
