Kratie provincial governor Va Thorn on February 3 held a meeting to instruct relevant authorities to beef up security ahead of the February 7 launch ceremony of a 93.56km stretch of National Road 7, to be presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Thorn told relevant authorities to provide security at the site of the ceremony and make other necessary arrangements, such as having a fleet of fire trucks and ambulances on standby, supplying sanitisers and rapid test kits to protect against Covid, and ensuring electricity supply and street lighting.

Other responsibilities include the enforcement of road traffic and public order, street cleaning, setting up a system to check IDs, and publicity for the event.

The Kratie Provincial Administration last month said the ceremony would be held on the morning of February 7.

The administration noted that the National Road 7 segment was revamped with asphalt concrete, by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG), and stretches from the Khla Stus Roundabout in Kratie town’s O’Russey commune to O’Krieng commune in the province’s northernmost district of Sambor.
