The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) said eight minefields in Kep will be cleared in mid-February as it is slated to become the country's first mine-free province.

Officials from CMAA and the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) on January 14 inspected mine clearance operation carried out by the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) in Chamkar Bei village of Damnak Changaur district's Poang Teuk commune.

“As per plan, all the eight minefields will be cleared in mid-February of 2022,” CMAA said.

It said NPA is the latest donor to step in and provide support to demining work in Kep to make it become the Kingdom's first-ever mine-free province.
