A 19-year-old woman died and three other females were poisoned after three police officers and one other man allegedly spiked their drinks at a Kandal province karaoke parlour on Sunday night.

The four men were arrested, with police searching for further suspects.

Kandal provincial deputy police chief Roeun Nara told The Post on Monday that the three officers were stationed at Loeuk Dek district’s Ka’am Samnor commune border checkpoint.

They are accused of adding illicit substances to the womens’ drinks.

“I can’t give you more detailed information on the case yet as police are still investigating,” Nara said.

Loeuk Dek district police chief Am Thou told The Post on Monday that officers arrived at the scene and found one girl dead and three others with severe poisoning. Four people were arrested.

Thou said the suspects had been drinking at a karaoke parlour in Ka’am Samnor commune when they asked the women to sing for them.

The men then allegedly poured white powder into glasses of water and beer and urged the girls to drink them.

Three police officers, aged 39, 35 and 27, and another 29-year-old male were arrested. An additional suspect, a 29-year-old taxi driver, managed to flee the scene, the police report said.

The report said the dead woman was 19 years old, while the other victims were aged 26, 21 and 18. All were employed at the karaoke parlour.

On Monday, Loeuk Dek district police and Military Police, led by provincial prosecutor Leav Sreng, inspected the karaoke parlour to collect evidence.

A small package of white powder was found.
