A probe is underway after a Chinese national was found dead in his room on Sunday evening in the capital’s Kakab commune in Por Sen Chey district.

The police have not ruled out murder or suicide as the cause of the death, Por Sen Chey district police chief Yim Saran said, noting that the authorities “are still waiting for the post-mortem results from a team of expert officers and doctors”.

“Police and doctors are still examining the body to identify the cause of the death. The room where the deceased was found had been locked from the inside."

“We have also been informed that he had shown symptoms of declining memory recently.”

An officer at Kakab commune police station, who asked not to be identified, said the 41-year-old victim had worked for Sepia (Cambodia) Garment Co Ltd as a technician.

“The police presumed that the victim had committed suicide,” he said, declining to comment on the state of the remains.

The police report revealed that at about 9pm on Sunday, the victim’s colleague repeatedly called him from outside of his room, but to no avail.

The former then asked a security guard to break the door and found the latter’s dead body lying in bed with a small bruise on the neck.
