The announcement coincides with the reopening of schools at all levels across the country.
Addressing the public as he declared the closing of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign for people aged 6 and older and the launch of vaccination drive for children aged 5 on November 1, Hun Sen said the country's phased reopening had been well planned and in accordance with the government's strategies.
He explained that the recent Pchum Ben public holiday – when people either flocked to their hometowns or gathered at tourist attractions across the country – was a big testament to the government's success in containing the pandemic and the deciding factor whether to reopen the economy.
"We have determined from the beginning that when Covid-19 vaccines are readily available, we set all-out vaccination drive as our main priority in addition to the enforcement of preventive measures including tracing the origins of transmission, testing, quarantine and treatment," he said.
