Anti-narcotics officials suspect that a Laotian-Canadian national who was arrested last Wednesday with 4kg of drugs could be linked to a larger network operating in the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Interior’s National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) spokesman Mean Virith said yesterday that the suspect was arrested in the capital near Street 460, Toul Tompong I, in Chamkarmon district.

In the operation, officials nabbed Chao Xieng, 50 and confiscated the crystal methamphetamine. Search operations are undergoing to track other suspects, Virith said.

Last Friday, The Phnom Penh Municipal Court ordered the suspect to be detained at the Prey Sar prison.
