Cambodia and the US are keen and committed to strengthening bilateral military trust and cooperation, according to the defence ministry’s information department.

This was the general message of the May 18 meeting between Royal Cambodian Armed Forces deputy commander Lieutenant General Hun Manet and Lori Abele, director for Southeast Asia at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy under the US Department of Defense.

“Both sides placed high value on past cooperation and expressed their willingness to maintain, strengthen and expand military cooperation in the future as well as to increase trust among the military of the two countries,” the information department under the Ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

Manet thanked the US government and defence department for previously providing Cambodia with training, while Abele thanked the Kingdom for its cooperation with the US on security issues, the statement added.
