The Ministry of Health on April 8 recorded two new deaths from Covid-19 and another 113 infections linked to the February 20 community outbreak.

The deceased patients, aged 42 and 68, are Cambodian men residing in one village apart in Stung Meanchey commune of Phnom Penh's Meanchey district. Both died on April 7 while undergoing treatment at Luong Mer Hospital in the capital -- formerly a private hospital which the government has recently purchased and turned into another state-run Covid-19 treatment facility.

Of the 113 cluster cases, four are Chinese nationals and the rest are Cambodian. The Cambodian patients include three children aged 14 to 16.

Phnom Penh recorded the majority of the cases at 103, followed by four in Takeo province, three each in Svay Rieng, Preah Sihanouk and Kandal, and one in Kampot.

The ministry also reported 90 recoveries, all but two of which were linked to the February 20 outbreak.

As of April 8, Cambodia had recorded a total of 3,028 Covid-19 cases with 1,085 receiving ongoing treatment and 24 confirmed fatalities from the disease.
