The Ministry of Civil Service on October 28 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Ministry of Personnel Management to strengthen human resource management in Cambodia’s civil service sector.

The MoU was signed by civil service minister Prum Sokha and his counterpart Kim Woo-ho in a virtual ceremony presided over by South Korean ambassador to Cambodia Park Heung-kyeong and Cambodian ambassador to South Korea Chring Botum Rangsay.

The Korean minister expressed hope that the MoU will pave the way for officials to become experts in the civil service field, according to a press statement issued by the civil service ministry after the ceremony.

Sokha praised the ‘excellent’ bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two ministries over the past years.

He said the MoU will effectively strengthen and build human resources in the civil service sector, responding to the actual needs of both ministries.

“In order for the implementation of this MoU to be smooth and effective, both sides have to prepare an annual action plan that is realistic and can be executed in the context of Covid-19,” he said.

According to the press statement, both ministries commited to turning the MoU into action to expand mutual cooperation between the two countries.
