The Maybank Foundation’s Women Eco-weavers programme is aiming to produce more than 110,000 hand-woven face masks amid the coronavirus pandemic. The three-ply cotton masks are reusable and cost a fraction of their single-use counterparts. Some 250 female weavers from Cambodia joined the initiative, and they have already produced more than 15,000 units. They earn $200 to $300 per month. The Maybank Women Eco-weavers programme has helped 2,500 people in Southeast Asia through its eight training centres across the region. Photos supplied
