Since October, Phnom Penh and 19 provinces in Cambodia have been hit by floods, destroying countless agriculture land and homes, thus affecting thousands of Cambodians. The China Hong Kong & Macau Expatriate and Business Association of Cambodia (CHKMEBAC) has answered the government’s call to aid flood victims, starting its “Entering the flood zone, mobilizing aid with love” campaign.
CHKMEBAC president Oknha Sum Sui Sang initiated the aid fund with a donation of $30,000 and other committee members topped up the fund, which reached $93,026.10. CHKMEBAC will visit the three of the hardest-hit flood areas, namely Kg Speu, Kandal and Kg Thom to distribute food supplies and cash donations to 2,000 flood victims. CHKMEBAC Flood Aid Team, led by secretary-general Wong Rui Hua, sent a flood aid team of 20 members to Krong Chbar Mon in Kg Speu last Friday. At Khan Dangkor, the local government took immediate action by gathering 500 affected families at a pagoda, to receive the aid. The CHKMEBA flood aid team handed instant noodles, canned tuna, fish sauce, soy sauce, medicine and also gave $40 to each family. Photos supplied
