Metfone’s online digital education system has been named ‘Best Business IT Solution of the Year’ by the Globee Awards, the international business awards programme and business ranking list.
The School Information System (SIS) – developed by Metfone with the support from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport – was launched in October 2020.
The SIS would be deployed in 1,000 schools across the country under the project and in the first stage, 300 schools with over 300,000 students and 20,000 teachers have used the system.
Metfone general-director of Phung Van Cuong said the SIS was recognised by the Globee Awards for being one of the world’s top digital education applications.

“Alongside world tech giants like IBM, HP and Samsung, Metfone Cambodia has achieved top ranking under the 'International Best in Business Awards' category claiming both gold and silver prizes for its digital education system, SIS.
“The awards reaffirm Metfone’s position as Cambodia’s leading digital technology company. And this further encourages the company to bring more technological and digital innovations to the Cambodian market,” Van Cuong said.
The SIS offers three main benefits for the users – it provides an online application that users can access using the internet; it offers personalised learning interface to meet the needs of the schools; and it gives connectivity advantages with Metfone users can access the SIS without any internet charges.
The SIS project is intended to contribute to the development of Cambodia’s education sector by providing digital services to over 1,000 schools across the country.
The digital transformation project aims to enhance student experiences by:
⚫ Enabling students to enter through mobile app or web application;
⚫ Providing a broad range of choices for online e-learning;
⚫ Using technology to track progress of students and enforce intervention protocols;
⚫ Enabling online class organisation faculties.
