The novel School Information System (SIS) developed by Metfone to ensure teaching continues in schools without any interruption during the Covid-19 pandemic has proved to be a successful solution.

Metfone vice general director Nhong Dinthan said the SIS served as an important mobile application that allowed students and teachers to communicate conveniently during the pandemic.

“With the SIS application, teachers can set timetables for physical and online classes, including functions like correcting and marking homework, conducting online video classes, messaging students and parents, giving yearly grades, and examination functions.

“This multi-featured application can do traditional things that teachers do every day, but can even do better online from anywhere in Cambodia by using the internet,” said Dinthan.

The School Information System (SIS) is developed by Metfone with the support from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

"Today’s generation needs access to a digital education that will transform students learning process in Cambodia – from the city to the provincial schools.

"By changing the way students learn, SIS Cambodia has helped to improve the education sector by providing a safe learning environment for both students and teachers," said Dinthan.

There are plans to deploy SIS application in 1,000 schools across the country. During the first stage of implementation, over 300,000 students and about 20,000 teachers in 300 schools have effectively benefited from the system.
