Workers’ Information Center (WIC) Job Vacancy
  The Workers’ Information (WIC) is a women garment workers based association, registered with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) since 2009. WIC aims to empower women workers to claim their rights and to improve the status of women in society.   A key strategy of WIC is to operate Drop-in-center, safe spaces where workers share their experiences and access information about their legal rights, the economics of the garment industry, gender, women’s health and broader social and political issues. WIC is seeking application from qualified Cambodia nationals fulfill the position of Research Officer.   POSITION TITLE : Research Officer REPORT TO : Coordinator LOCATION : Worker Information Center Office (with travel to DICs) CONTRACT : Yearly contract (subject to three months’ probation at the beginning of the contract)   I. PURPOSE OF POSITION This position will focus on data organizing and researching socio-economic situation in Cambodia; particular related to textile and footwear industry. The Research Officer will responsible conducting research, develop and share evidence based on how macro economy model impact the lives of women, and especially workers. The Research Officer also assists with the integration of gender and feminist perspective into WIC program, with design and implementation of others’ research, and with the development of a context-based analysis methodology. In addition, the position is contributing in development of advocacy strategies, policy brief papers, and other written materials.   II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES ♦ Conduct research and advocacy to influence policies and practices of different key actors, with particular focus on feminist approach in socio-economic justice ♦ Contribute to strategies, approaches and projects designed to address exploitation issues in macro economy context, and other priority research topics, as and when identified, and contribute to raising funds accordingly ♦ Capacity development and promote WIC in Research and Advocacy ♦ Organisational and United Sisterhood Alliance (Us) inputs.   III. REQUIREMENTS ♦ A relevant university degree and/or extensive experience in Research and Advocacy ♦ Demonstrate experience of policy-relevant and field research in socio-economy context ♦ Strong writing and analysis ability and understanding of how to tailor reports and policy brief papers to different audiences, channels and objectives ♦ Excellent communications skills including verbal, written and photographic skills in Khmer and English ♦ Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate cross-culturally ♦ Knowledge and experience of desktop publishing, database software applications, the internet and other social media skill: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc ♦ Ability to develop advocacy strategies and implement action plans ♦ Understand and experience in engage with national and international to develop research initiatives and advocacy strategies ♦ Personal commitment to Worker’s Information Center and Us’ values and principles ♦ Understanding of labor, gender, socio-economy and development context ♦ Willingness and capacity to travel to Drop In Centers (DICs) located outskirt of Phnom Penh City, and sometimes to the provinces ♦ Strong planning and organizing skills and verifiable references   Interested candidates are requested to submit CV with covering letter and necessary supporting documents to WIC office #3-4, Street 339, Sangkat Boeung Kak I, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh.
