Sambor Prei Kuk is an archaeological site in Cambodia located in Kampong Thom province, 30 kilometres north of Kampong Thom, the provincial capital, and 176 kilometres east of the Angkor Archaeological Park. The archaeological sites are a cluster of ancient brick temples scattered in the forest and divided into three main group, the Prasat Sombor Group, Prasat Yeah Poun and the Lion group. Built by Isanavarnam I, king of the Chenla Empire, the seventh-century ruins predate the Angkorian period. Photos by Heng Chivoan
