On march 15, Java Café opened a new exhibition to promote local artists called Object(s) of Collecting. The exhibition was organised by Yean Reaksmey, the gallery’s art curator. He said it intends to promote “collectorship, patronage and art appreciation, essential ingredients for expanding the market for modern and contemporary art in Cambodia”. Most Cambodian modern and contemporary artists have to spend their own money to create works of art but are often not able to sell the finished pieces because there are few buyers or art collectors in Cambodia.
