New cement production plant opens in Kampot

Cambodia’s newest cement production facility, built and owned by Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation, celebrated a soft launch on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Suy Sem, minister of mines and energy, led a delegation to the site in Tuok Meas district, Kampot province, to examine the production line and review the factory’s machinery.

Once it becomes fully operational next month, the $262 million cement plant should provide 400 jobs and produce 5,000 tonnes of cement a day, or almost 2 million tonnes per year. The facility would be the fourth cement factory in the Kingdom.
