Aptly named Odds Bobs, Hammer and Tongs, long-term expat and Kiwi Max Rex Fox’s new exhibition at Chinese House is a bit of a mishmash.

Ideas and techniques from four years of creation are combined in 12 pieces, including bright watercolours and oil paintings.

The plastic work is where the artist says he “really has fun”, adding and peeling back layers of material to create a zigzag effect before finishing with a photoshopped image, including some of despots.

“These people are or were such butchers that we shouldn’t give them infamy, which raises them to idols in some minds, but should seek to make them as foolish and pathetic-looking as possible,” he says.

The exhibition opens on Friday at Chinese House, #45 Sisowath Quay.
